The winners of the Belgian Game Awards 2025 have been announced!
On the evening of December 10th, the Belgian games industry came together to celebrate the finest talent and creativity the region has to offer.

BELGIUM, 10 DECEMBER 2025 - The Belgian Game Awards, organized by games.brussels and BelgianGames with the support of various partners from the Belgian video game ecosystem, is thrilled to announce the winners across 14 award categories.
This prestigious event highlights the relentless efforts of both games and game companies in making the Belgian game sector thrive.

Until December 12th, Steam will also be highlighting the Belgian-made games and celebrating the selected nominees in a special limited-time sales event. Best XR Game of the Year
Winner: Wall Town Wonders (Cyborn)
This category recognizes games available on VR/AR/XR devices that provide exceptional immersive experiences.
The jury praised Wall Town Wonders for its creativity:
“Wall Town Wonders fully utilizes the XR medium, transforming your living room into a delightful dollhouse. Players are treated to a captivating exploration of finely detailed models, making the gameplay experience immensely enjoyable.”

Best Applied
Winner: A long goodbye (Polygoat)
This award honors non-entertainment games with artistic, cultural, or educational purposes.
The jury's remarks highlighted the game's emotional depth:
“The advantage of VR is that nobody can see you cry when this gut-wrenching story about dementia resonates so deeply. Witnessing reality fade away offers a unique and insightful perspective on the subject, making it a powerful tale further enhanced by stellar voice acting, particularly in Dutch.”

Best Multiplayer
Winner: Wait What’s That? (Oisoi Studio)
This award spotlights games that excel in multiplayer experiences, whether cooperative or competitive.
The jury found the game to be a standout:
“Wait, is that Pictionary in 3D with power-ups? Yes, and it's just as fun as it sounds! With robust gameplay paired with equally impressive art and audio design, it's a game that promises fun, even if gathering four friends for a session can be a challenge.”

Best Visual Art
Winner: 30 Birds (Ram Ram Studio / Business Goose Studio)
This category celebrates outstanding visual quality through innovative art direction.
The jury noted:
“30 Birds' fusion of projected Persian art within a whimsically bizarre world creates an entirely unique visual experience. It’s not just a treat for the eyes; the game design seamlessly supports this vibrant aesthetic, enhanced further by stellar and eccentric writing.”

Best Audio
Winner: Koira (Studio Tolima)
This award recognizes games that excel in the audio department, showcasing remarkable sound design.
The jury remarked:
“Just as Journey taught us cooperation without words, Koira evokes powerful emotions without dialogue. The audio design transforms instrumentation into an immersive narrative experience that must be heard to be believed.”

Best Narrative
Winner: Koira (Studio Tolima)
Awarded for the best narrative design, story, or script.

Best Game Design
Winner: No players online (Beeswax Games)
This award highlights exceptional game mechanics and design.
The jury concluded:
“No Players Online intertwines atmosphere, esoteric storytelling, and innovative game design like no other. Beeswax Games crafted a unique world that captivates players with its twisted narratives and inventive gameplay mechanics.”

Best Student Game
Winner: What the Hack! (Howest/DAE)
Student games are submitted by the Belgian schools with a degree in game development, game design or who offer other relevant game educational programs.
The jury noted:
“What the hack showcases a fun and engaging puzzle mechanic that makes you crave for more after just a few minutes.The level of polish and sophistication in mechanics is astonishing coming from a team of students. If this is what the start of their career looks like, then it is one to keep a close eye on.”
Runner-ups: Needle Eye (Howest/DAE), Voice of the Ocean (Haute Ecole Albert Jacquard)
Most Anticipated Game
Winner: STIP (Sixtyfour)
This award recognizes video games with release dates scheduled after December 10, 2025, and before December 31, 2026.
The jury had this to say about the winning title:
“STIP made us exclaim what every great puzzle game should aspire to: 'That was possible from the start?!' The clever fourth-wall-breaking mechanics are a delight, and the harmonious blend of visuals, sound design, and gameplay creates a sophisticated and whimsical experience that is sure to captivate the puzzle gaming community.”

Belgian Game of the Year

Winner: Koira (Studio Tolima)
This title emerged as the standout video game of the year, excelling across all categories.
The jury's verdict was clear:
"Koira is a beautiful and heartfelt adventure with enchanting musical design and a story that made you feel for its characters, without using a single spoken word. It very nearly took home best visuals as well, so it’s only fitting that a title which manages to accrue two wins and a narrow second place in another category gets to be crowned Belgian Game Of the Year."
Audience Award

Winner: OFF ((Mortis Ghost + Fangamer)
The Audience Award is given to the game that receives the most votes from the players at home.
The jury highlighted:
“When a world is governed by the fundamental elements of metal, sugar, meat, plastic, and smoke, you know you're in for an exhilarating ride. OFF perfectly blends classic RPG Maker charm with an unsettling, fourth-wall-breaking environment, pioneering a title that inspires genre-defining indie RPGs, now available on modern platforms for all to enjoy.”
Most promising start-up
Winner: Valem Studios
This award celebrates startups founded after 2022 that showcase significant entrepreneurial potential through innovative business models and creative approaches.
The jury recognized:
“Valem Studio exemplifies a unique and scalable business model in the XR space, with innovative games and educational content enhancing one another. Their early successes with Detective VR and the Auto VR Optimizer have established diversified revenue streams. Additionally, their role as a trusted authority within the industry, complemented by a thriving community through Valem Tutorials, positions them for substantial future growth.”

Best Tech Provider
Winner: Lugus Studios
This award honors studios that provide critical tools for game development, emphasizing innovation and strong business acumen.
The jury concluded:
“LuGus Studios stands out with its Liftoff simulator, the gold standard used by over a million pilots. Their Liftoff Core Modular Engine signals a significant evolution into a true tech provider, enhancing both efficiency and sustainability. Furthermore, their technology plays a key role in groundbreaking research, including NASA’s analog Mars mission simulation, underscoring its reliability and broad impact.”
Runner-ups: Salty Lemon Entertainment, Carte Son
Change-Maker of the Year
Winner: BiteMe games
This award recognizes studios that empower the community and innovate within the industry.
The jury noted:
“BiteMe Games has pioneered a self-sustaining 'Content-to-Game' model, where educational content generates revenue for new development, achieving independence from traditional funding. Their radical transparency inspires countless developers, and their underdog story exemplifies how passion can lead to profitability without elite credentials.”

In addition to the live show and expo, a week-long Belgian Game Awards Steam Event is currently ongoing to celebrate this year's nominees. The event also features winners and nominees from previous years, creating a comprehensive showcase of Belgium's gaming talent. The event runs from 4 to 12 December and even has front-page visibility on Steam from 9 to 11 December!
