Dead As Disco’s Biggest Update Yet: New Idol Dahlia Lights Up the Dancefloor for Over Half a Million Players

29 SEPTEMBER 2026 - Dead As Disco, the action brawler where every punch, dodge, and combo lands on the beat, has surpassed over half a million players as Brain Jar Games launches its biggest Early Access update yet.

Since launching into Steam Early Access, Dead As Disco has continued to grow through major content updates and player feedback. It's rated "97% - Overwhelmingly Positive" on Steam across more than 14,000 user reviews.

Now Dead As Disco is ready to fan the flames with their latest update. The latest patch introduces Dahlia, a new Idol boss ready to set the stage ablaze as one of Charlie Disco's most dangerous opponents yet.

Dance With Dahlia

The Dahlia update adds a full new story level, two new arenas, eight new Challenges, a new enemy type, new abilities, cosmetics, dance moves and more.

Dahlia takes the stage at The Nightshade, a venue equal parts club and botanical gardens. Known as The Lady of Loss, the band's former pianist and dancer brings a fiery new boss fight, taking Charlie through a multi-stage battle. What begins as a vibrant spectacle filled with blooming greenery gives way to erupting magma and embers as Dahlia reveals her Death Form and creates a haunting world of ash.

Players will also tango with the new Flamecho enemy, which rains fire down before rushing in with an unblockable attack and a counterable follow-up. And if that doesn’t make you feel the heat, the Burn status effect will as it deals damage on the beat.

Defeating Dahlia unlocks her Skill Tree for Charlie, including Phantom Dance, an empowered dodge that leaves behind a damaging Pyroette which Charlie can detonate with a follow-up attack.

Five New Songs

Dahlia's signature track, “La Pantera,” brings Spanish piano and a Latin-inspired sound to the Dead As Disco soundtrack. The update adds five new songs in total:

New Dahlia quests and dialogue in The Encore
New arena-swap triggers and improvements to Infinite Disco

Early Access Done Right

Since launching into Early Access in May, Dead As Disco has already received multiple major updates, adding new systems, challenges and ways to play. Here are just some of the major changes:

Auto BPM detection has been added to Infinite Disco, making it easier to bring in your own music by automatically detecting a track’s BPM and offset. Playing to your own music has never felt better!
Achievements are now live on Steam & Epic Games Store, with past play history counting towards unlocked achievements.
Intense Mode is now available across every Story level, increasing enemy damage, tightening perfect windows, removing healing hearts & checkpoints, and adding other tougher combat modifiers.
Infinite Disco has grown with new arenas, arena-swap triggers, enemies and other tools for creating customised music-fuelled fights.
Custom Challenges have expanded with leaderboards, new modifiers, additional enemies and smoother challenge playlists.

The audience has a voice. The Brain Jar games team always keeps an ear out for player feedback. Because of this, they’ve added Controller button remapping and other combat, UI and quality-of-life improvements.
